 Small Animal Medicine
Dr. Joan Nafe grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas and graduated from Hall High School in 1969. She attended Vassar College and Colgate University, where she graduated with a B.S. in 1974. She then attended the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, where she was honored as the top Arkansas student. In 1979, Dr. Nafe completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, where she met and later married Dr. Larry Nafe. In 1982, they founded Hillcrest Animal Hospital and have enjoyed 24 years of a growing, active practice. They have a 25 year old daughter, Laura, who is in her second year of veterinary school at the University of Missouri. Dr. Nafe has a special interest in dermatology and geriatrics.
